EMEFA COLE
BIO
Emefa Cole is an independent experimental jewellery artist born in Sunyani, West-Central Ghana in 1979. She moved to London when she was 12-years-old and graduated from London Metropolitan University Cass School of art in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Silversmithing and Jewelry. Upon graduation, she launched and built her company; envisioning and bringing to life wearable art which employs subtlety when touching on its inspirations.
Emefa honours sustainability efforts through her collections through the use of 100% recycled metals and stones sourced directly from African gem cutters. She draws inspiration from her heritage and early connection to her homeland, with influences coming from Western Africa, which has no shortage of astounding goldsmiths. Her jewellery series are naturally linked to the intrinsic role of beads in Ghanaian culture and her family’s place within it.
